My Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Class 7-25-Celtic Knot

How exciting it is for me to be presenting to you one of the newest Provo Craft Cuttlebug folders, CELTIC KNOT!! I looked at this folder and had so many ideas in my mind, but first I did a research of Celtic designs from jewelry to tattoos. This folder opened a whole new world of interest for me. Keeping in mind what I found surfing the internet, this is the card I designed.

This is a photo of the supplies I used. Now, if any of you have been following any of my work, you may have read where I mention how I start in one direction and can end up totally different from my original plan. This card was no exception and because of that, I added a smaller photo of those extra items I used.
I embossed the gold cardstock that had a slight line embossing to it. Realizing how great this folder works to give a sharp emboss, I decided to cut out a few of the center designs with my Fiskars finger knife. Did you notice the gold marker in the first photo? Well, here is something I do when those cutting lines leave a little white showing. I take a marker in the color of the paper I'm cutting and tap onto the white. This helps to 'tone it down' and not have that white jumping out at you.

Next thing was to add a red background. This paper is a shinny red that I purchased from Marco's Paper. I trimmed around so as to not have any showing out from the top and sides. Then I used pop dots and set it on a black mat. The border of the black was done with Versa Mark and Perfect Pearls. Then I attached the black cardstock to more shiney red cardstock that was adhered to the card. I then added the decorative Cuttlebug corners.

Now it was time to 'bring it home' and give it that finishing touch. I used the Celtic Knot folder once again to emboss black Core'dinations that was gray on the back. Once that was done, I freehand cut a cross and using my sanding block, roughed it up. I then used pop dots and adhered it to the card. One last thing was needed...a green heart gem.

I hope you enjoyed my quick and easy class and get the opportunity to play with the Celtic folder yourself. Be sure to stop by Cuttlebug Challenge for fun, prizes and awesome inspiration from our Design Team.

Be Inspired Wednesday #41-Victoria folder

Challenge: no cards!!..Wow, now it was time to put the thinking cap on and see what I can come up with that would do this folder justice!!..I decided to cover a tissue box! After measuring my papers (core'dinations) to completely go around a tissue box, I embossed it with the Victoria folder another new and awesome embossing folder from Provo Craft. The top was coverd and a small hole was left open to get the tissues out. I made a square cover and embossed that with the Bird and Swirl embossing folder and then attached it with a pearl brad. This will allow you to close the lid or slide it over to retrieve a tissure. White lace was used around the top as a trim and the green weave ribbon was something I bought 2 years ago on sale with the Christmas decorations!. The bird was cut using a Sizzix die (core'dinations cardstock) and then embossed using the Swiss Dot embossing folder. For dimension, I cut out a bird using chipboard and attached the two together. Flowers and centers are Prima. His eye is a Robins Nest 'skittle'.

Be Inspired Wednesday #40-Herringbone folder

For this challenge, we were to use one of Provo Craft's newest folders, Herringbone and a sketch from our Administrator, Maggie. I decided to do something different, getting away from my usual card. This started out as a piece of shaped wood that I bought at the Dollar Tree. The blue paper (sorry, don't know the name) was done with the Herringbone folder and the orange paper (core'dinations) was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing border strip. The printed paper (DaiseyD) was used for the butterfles (QuikKutz) and the scalloped square (Nestabilities). Dressed it up with Prima flowers and bling, beige ribbon and orange lace (Wrights Hem Tape).

A big thank you to Provo Craft for this awesome folder and 2RedBananasStamps for their sponsorship in this weeks prize.

Be sure to check out Cuttlebug Challenge to see what our DT has for you this week and your chance to win some cool stamps!!

My Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Class 7/14/09-Flourish Frame

I am so excited to be sharing with you this new embossing folder from Provo Craft called Flourish Frame!!

Let’s get started!!..

How exciting to be one of the first to use this awesome new embossing folder from Provo Craft called Flourish Frame. In this first photo I gathered up my supplies and pre-embossed both cardstocks. The blue cardstock was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder. Now, I don’t know about you, but my supplies change throughout my projects. You will notice things added that are not in the supply photo. Unless you are doing a challenge that restricts you to use only what is shown, just go with your creative juices and get creative!

In this photo, I covered the card with a blue and green print from Me & My Big Ideas. You must have guessed by now that I was in a blue and green mood..lol. I added a strip of blue and green ribbon to the blue cardstock and adhered the cardstock to the print. My choice was to off center that piece.

It was now time to add the green cardstock with that awesome embossed frame on it. I chose to cut out the center for a little different take on this folder. After I played around with where I was going to set it down, I used 3M double sided foam tape, but doubled up on it since I wanted a better dimensional finish. I set it in place and then let the juices flow on how to dress it up. Stardust Stickles was used to accent those cool flourishes on the frame. I cut a butterfly with my Walk In My Garden cartridge using Me & My Big Ideas cardstock with a glitter design on it. Once that was cut, I used a pop dot and then added more Stickles (green and stardust) just to make it stand out more. After playing with my Prima flowers, I chose the ones I wanted to use and placed them on the card. I then finished it off with some blue and green fibers and 3 self stick bling rounds.

Here is my finished card!!

Be Inspired Wednesday #39-Owl folder

Now I ask you...isn't this the cutest embossing folder!!..How fun it was for me to have this folder to show you this week. We were asked to use something that you wouldn't normally use on a card/scrap page. Well, seems like I have used just about everything, but twigs were low on the list, so that is what I used. How perfect it was for my owl!!..He was embossed using Core'dinations paper and sanded to bring out the color on the back of the cardstock. I then used a metal ruler to distress the edges of the cardstock. The base of the card was embossed with the Cuttlebug folder, Traffic Jam. I stamped the cute saying and cut that with my Fiskar's Deckle scissors and using Karen Foster floss, I attached the larger piece to the twig; pop dots under the tag so it sits better on the card. One more twig for the side of the card, Copic for the nose and eyes and done!!

Stop by Cuttlebug Challenge and see what our talented design team has for you this week. I'm sure you will find lots of inspiration!!

Digi Shack Challenge

Her name is Lani by Toni Walters at The Digi Shack . Though Lani wears different clothes and changes her hair, she is still adorable!!..I printed her out a 9 1/4 and set her on a half card. I put a Popsicle stick behind her and added pop dots to give her some dimension. Let her greet your friends next time you have a red/white/blue party!!..I took a few liberties with the sketch that was shown, but I do like how this came out. I was also able to include Erin's Mystery Item Challenge from HYWWP. Erin has this fun challenge every month where if you sign up, you will receive a 'mystery item' that you are to use on a card, layout or project. I'm not going to say what it is until I know everyone received their 'surprise'..lol..

Trisha's Sketch Challenge #10

Here is a layout I did from a sketch my sweet friend Trisha did. You can find the sketch at her blog and at Have Your Way With Paper. The butterfly is Prima and was silver, so I sprayed it with Glitter Mist, Olive Green to get the right look for my layout. Don't you just love those Prima flowers??!!

Be Inspired Wednesday #38

Welcome to Be Inspired Wednesday at Cuttlebug Challenge !! Our challenge for this week was to make a red, white and blue project with the new Cuttlebug folder STARS and add buttons. I was so thrilled to be the recipient of the new Provo Craft Cuttlebug embossing folder, STARS!! I love how crisp the embossing was and with a little sanding the white core on my DCWV paper just popped right off the blue; also distressed the edges. The stars were done with the Cuttlebug Star die and just enough glue to make those stars float. The red and white rectangles were cut with my Spellbinder dies. Just a touch of fiber was added to finish the card off.
Be sure to check out what our Design Team has to share with you!! We also have a few new design team members who are making their debut today and I know you will be 'wowed' by their work!!!
